The Sprayranger Golfer has been developed with input from a major golf course contractor. The design brief was to produce a machine that not only out performed any of the competition but also looked unobtrusive. We couldn't use the existing 60D as it was considered too large. Lastly the customer needed to tow the Golfer behind a 4x4 or medium sized van on a standard road trailer. For the Golfer we took the 60D chassis and which is a proven design. The cab was then lowered by six inches by introducing a swan neck at the front of the chassis. The reason for this was not for performance but to overcome objections from greenkeepers used to smaller machinery. We already have many years of experience of low ground pressure machines so we knew the Golfer would not leave any trace on the fairway, but we also needed to look as if we would not leave any trace. The next part to address was the boom design which had to be shrouded to contain any spray drift and again hide what the Golfer was doing. The Golfer had to perform - but not be noticed.
